A British woman has told a US court how her friend died after undergoing unlicensed cosmetic surgery in a hotel.

Theresa Gymfi, from London, said her 20-year-old friend Claudia Aderotimi died hours after a woman pumped silicone into their buttocks in February 2011.

She said they had no problems when they had the same procedure done on a trip months earlier. But Ms Gymfi, 22, said her childhood friend had trouble breathing shortly after the second procedure.

She was giving evidence at a preliminary hearing in Philadelphia for Padge Gordon who is charged with third-degree murder and practising medicine without a licence.

Ms Gymfi said Gordon left the hotel after her friend became ill and told them to call an ambulance if she did not get better.
