Police use water cannon on loyalist rioters in north Belfast (AP)
Serious disorder has broken out in North Belfast for a second night.
Police used water cannon after they were attacked by petrol bomb throwing crowds in the Carlisle Circus area.
Six baton rounds have been fired by police at rioters. A van was hijacked in Denmark Street and pushed towards police lines.
On Sunday night 47 officers were injured during riots linked to a republican parade nearby and a loyalist protest.
According to the Northern Ireland Police Federation, which represents rank and file officers, nine PSNI officers were injured in the latest violence and three taken to hospital.
Federation chairman Terry Spence said: "Their bravery and courage in stark contrast to that of the cowardly thugs responsible for trying to murder them."
Stones, bottles, fireworks and rocks have been hurled at officers.
