Majorca hotline for worried Britons

Britons worried about terrorist activity on Majorca can contact a special toll-free information hotline, Spanish authorities have announced.

Giving information in English, Spanish and German, the hotline was set up by the Balearic Islands Government following three explosions in Majorca on Sunday.

No one was hurt in the incidents in the Majorcan capital Palma and Spanish police are trying to discover if the devices were the work of Basque separatist group ETA, who killed two police officers in a bomb attack on Majorca last week.

Condemning the attacks, the Balearic Island Government said that "due to the low power of the devices we can deduce that the terrorists' objective was not to cause direct damage to people through their actions".

It added that the hotline number was set up to give latest news and to answer any queries.

Those already in Spain or on Majorca can dial 900 900 365, with those calling from the UK ringing 0034 900 900 365.
