Look at the pecks on that ... a new calendar is set to cause a flap by featuring a collection of ravishing roosters.

A selection of 12 feathered friends were chosen for the unusual modelling assignment after a free range egg firm decided to shell out, recreating well-known movie characters.

The unlikely pin-ups feature in a calendar created by the Happy Egg Co which will be sent out to suppliers to entertain their flocks with and keep them at the beak of their powers.

More than 100 birds were auditioned and the winners include a Light Brahma variety recreating John Travolta's moves in Saturday Night Fever, a Maran playing James Bond and a Gold Appenzeller Spitzhauben as Batman.

The calendar was produced after research found that hens were calmer in the company of cockerels so the pics in the Nice Pecks calendar are being distributed to enhance their moods.

Marketing director Steve Horton said: "Nice Pecks was born out of wanting to do something more for our girls to enhance their surroundings and give them added visual stimulus. Since we can't introduce real-life cockerels on to our farms, because the eggs we buy in the supermarket are not fertilised, the calendar felt like the next best thing."

In addition to being sent to producers, they will also be given away for free through the company's social media outlets.

Fashion photographer Dan Kennedy, who shot the calendar, said: " I thought the idea of recreating Hollywood's iconic moments is the perfect way to ruffle some feathers."
