Quarry fall man feared drowned
A man is feared drowned after it is believed he fell into quarry.
The 22-year-old is thought to have slipped and fell into water about 40 metres deep, at Bakers Farm Nursery in Kingsley, near Alton in Hampshire, at about 6.15pm on Saturday.
The quarry is being searched by firefighters and the coastguard along with the police.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service Group Manager Brian Rudman said: "We advise everyone to be extra vigilant around areas of water and to know the risks.
"Quarries are not for swimming - water may look safe but it can be very dangerous.
"Don't go to areas of water alone or if you do, make sure you tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return, take extra care around the waters edge and learn how to help yourself and others if you find yourself in an emergency situation.
"If you see someone in difficulty, dial 999 and ask for the Police at inland water sites and the Coastguard at the beach."
