Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj had a heated disagreement on American Idol
Ryan Seacrest has admitted that things got overheated between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on American Idol.
Hip hop star Nicki was heard ranting at Mariah during a contestant's audition for the series, and host Ryan later addressed the fallout on his own US radio show.
He defended the judges, saying: "These are all very different individuals with different perspective and different opinion that provide for interesting conversation and dialogue and feedback for the contestants."
Ryan admitted: "It got heated between Nicki and Mariah," adding: "There's nothing wrong with disagreeing, and that's gonna happen, and that's OK," reported E! Online.
"It was intense, I'll be honest with you. And it was towards the end of the day, and there were just a few contestants to be seen..."
Meanwhile, Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe denied reports that Nicki threatened Mariah's life, telling TMZ: "The statement (that Nicki made a death threat) is absolute rubbish. It's absolutely not true in any way, shape or form."
