Renee Zellweger's TV pilot has reportedly been snapped up for six million dollars.

Fox 21 paid the hefty sum - apparently the highest cost ever for a basic cable pilot - for the Hollywood star's show Cinnamon Girl after a bidding war, reports The Wrap.

They will produce the pilot for American TV network Lifetime.

The coming-of-age drama, which Renee co-created, follows four girls during the late 1960s and early 1970s in Los Angeles and was apparently inspired by the Bridget Jones star's own journey from a small town to Hollywood.

Earlier this month Deadline reported that Allie MacDonald, Alexis Knapp, Brooke Anne Smith, Jade Bartlett and Sebastian Piggott had been cast in the show.
