Shia LaBeouf next stars in the Prohibition drama Lawless
Shia LaBeouf has revealed that he continues to have a passion for being on set - because it makes him feel like he's part of a big family.
The 26-year-old, who has carved out a career in the Transformers films, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, is now enjoying a run of indie flicks such as Prohibition-era drama Lawless.
"I come from a small family and when I became involved with Hollywood, it was like finding that Home Alone family at Christmas - it's like 12 brothers, 12 sisters and lots of uncles and aunts," he said.
"Set life for me became, and still remains, my favourite thing in the entire world."
Shia, who also stars in Robert Redford's thriller The Company You Keep, revealed how seeing the Hollywood legend in action has inspired him to consider directing.
"To be there with Robert Redford, watching him work was very special. To watch an actor direct himself was inspirational and I've always been interested to see how that works," he said.
"There's always that thing in your mind - 'When I get ugly and they won't let me do this any more, is there a future for me as a filmmaker?' Because I love life on set so much."
:: Lawless opens in cinemas on September 7.
