Steve Carell's son was scared by his look in Dinner For Schmucks.
The Date Night star had a dodgy hairdo and teeth to play bumbling taxidermist Barry Speck in the comedy, but his new look didn't go down too well with his six-year-old son Johnny.
"When I came home at night, my son was horrified by the way I looked, because it just wasn't Dad any more, it was this horrible thing that he was unfamiliar with - I did not look like me, mostly because of the hair," he said.
Steve was more than happy to be made over for the part.
"I didn't want him to be a caricature or a cartoon. I wanted him to be somebody grounded in some sort of reality, someone that you could identify with for a certain extent. I felt like if that was the case, the character would be able to get away with a lot more," he continued.
The star of the American version of The Office claimed it was all too easy to portray the odd-ball.
"Well, I'm irritating anyway so I just brought that irritation from my personal life into the movie," he said.
"It's fun to play characters who are eccentric and live on the periphery of society. But, at the same time, could be someone you would know. I've met people like this."
