Vanessa Feltz has surprised Big Brother contestants by arriving in the house - under a bridal veil for a mock wedding.

The radio presenter returned to the series after previously appearing in the first Celebrity BB in 2001.

Vanessa came back with her face covered during a staged marriage ceremony, aping a stunt from Big Brother 5. She waved to the crowd before entering the house.

Her "groom", Victor Ebuwa - like the rest of the house - had no idea she was joining the Ultimate Big Brother series. After lifting her veil he hugged his "bride", who then received hugs and kisses from the rest of the housemates.

When asked if she was just a visitor, Vanessa pronounced "I'm staying", to applause from the house.

Vanessa has joined as a full housemate - rather than the temporary visitors who have popped in during the past few days - and will be eligible to win.

She famously crumpled under the constant gaze of cameras during her previous BB stint, culminating in a bizarre episode in which she scrawled words on the table. Instead of writing a shopping list, she wrote "incarcerated, diffident, disparate, frustrated".

Tonight's re-appearance was part of a series which restaged a number of past tasks.

And it featured housemate Michelle Bass recreating her performance of Pie Jesu from BB5 live in front of the eviction crowd, accompanied by a gospel choir.
