Joe McElderry thinks Everybody Hurts is a good choice for the Haiti charity single.
The X Factor singer features on the REM cover along with stars such as Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis and Robbie Williams.
Joe said: "I think it's quite a relevant song choice because obviously there's quite a lot of people hurting out there and they've lost so much, like homes, family members, workplaces - everything's gone - so it's quite a relative song to what's gone on for them."
He added: "I think there's some fantastic artists (on it) - I was honoured to be asked."
The 18-year-old singer says he is more bothered about raising money for the earthquake victims than the single reaching No 1.
He said: "You know everybody listens to music and everybody goes out and buys a single, so if everybody goes out and buys this one, they can enjoy listening to it (and) it's also going to raise loads of money.
"It's not really about the chart success of it - it's about raising as much money as possible for it. So fingers crossed that will happen as well - but as long as it raises so much money then that's all I'm bothered about."
