William Fichtner has said he thinks Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans will be "floored" by the new movie.
The actor joined co-stars including Megan Fox and Will Arnett, and director Jonathan Liebesman and producer Michael Bay on the red carpet in Los Angeles for the premiere of the new movie reboot of the hit 80s cartoon.
Asked what fans of the original will make of the new film, William said: "I think they're going to be floored by it.
"A lot of the fans from the original, that was the 80s, those kids are all late 20s, 30s now, this is not a cartoon, this is a live action thing, so they're going to get to see it in a way I don't think they've ever seen it before.
"Everybody talks about it as the reboot of Turtles. It feels like it's the first. 'Cause you're doing it in a way it's never been done. I think they're going to love it."
The Crossing Lines actor was originally reported to be playing villain The Shredder in the movie. But he is credited as pizza chef Eric Sachs, who is seen in the trailer to be in league with Shredder.
William teased: "I'm misunderstood all the way. I don't get the whole bad guy thing. He's actually the sweetest guy in the whole film. He makes pizza. He's a lovely, lovely man."
Jeremy Howard and Alan Ritchson, who play turtles Donatello and Raphael, confessed bagging the roles has been a childhood dream come true.
Jeremy admitted: "I was a huge fan. I got all the toys, I watched the cartoon every Saturday morning, I had a purple mask and a broomstick that I'd run around the house with. So to come back to this world has been a dream come true."
Alan revealed: "I grew up with the turtles. I was always a Michelangelo fan though, so Raph was a bit of an adjustment for me!"
Meanwhile, Megan - who plays the turtles' reporter pal April O'Neil in the movie - hit out at critics of producer Michael Bay at a press conference for the film.
Bay recently angered fans after he suggested that the mutant turtles will be from "an alien race" in the new adventure.
Responding to the criticism, Megan said: "Let me tell you something about those people: how much money did Transformers 4 make?
"Those people can complain - they all go to the theatre. They're going to love it, and if they don't love it, they can f**k off, and that's the end of that."
