Pete Doherty has opened up about his battle with drugs.

The singer, 35, who reunites with The Libertines for a BST Hyde Park gig in London this summer, is desperate to kick his addictions, the Daily Star reported.

Pete was quoted as saying: "I would like to get rid of the damn drugs. It's no longer fun. On the contrary, it's just s**t and kills all my creativity. But it's difficult to stop.

"My past life is a f***ing mess, a real mess," the 35-year-old Babyshambles frontman said.

"It's gone wrong in so many ways. Although I don't believe in regrets - 'cause that offers nothing - but clearly some things I would like to change.

"I wish I had better contact with my family. I have caused so much c**p."

Now based in Germany where he's recording a solo album, Pete, who was jailed in 2011 for cocaine possession, said he is still optimistic.

"I'm a dreamer, that often helps me, no matter how c****y things become," he said. "Even in prison I told myself it was a good thing to be locked up, because at least I would have time just for me."
