Cyrus tour gets mixed response
Miley Cyrus has sparked more controversy as she returned to the stage in London.
The former Hannah Montana star opened the UK leg of her Bangerz tour after sliding down a giant tongue at the capital's O2 Arena.
She began the show, which came after she pulled out of several US and European dates following a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics, with a series of expletive-filled outbursts.
Miley donned a dollar print leotard, flew on to the stage in what looked like a hotdog, danced on a sports car and sported a giant tongue coming out of her chest during various costume changes.
The singer reportedly discussed drugs in front of her young crowd.
The Sun's Tom Thorogood tweeted: "Miley just said 'motherf*****s' four times in the opening 20 seconds of her O2 gig. Plenty of red faced parents around."
Apparently quoting Miley, he wrote: "'I'm sure you guys smell of alcohol and you've been smoking weed and you've been taking tons of pills.' Miley to crowd (average age 12)," and later: "'I know a lot of you are probably stoned... So this is Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?', followed by: "I used to smoke and they were the best 3 years of my life but no one wanted to kiss me but weed is much better."
Many young fans gushed about the concert, with SophieeHarriss writing on Twitter: "That was honestly one of the best nights of my life, I love @MileyCyrus so much."
Lindsay Davis wrote: "Literally @MileyCyrus is a goddess! Best concert I have EVER been to! The costumes the props the dancers!
But one father, attending with his 15-year-old son, said of the content: "It would be different if it was a good show. But it's not even a good show."
The Bangerz concert garnered praise in the Daily Star, which called it "gob-smackingly brilliant, the theatrical equivalent of gargling with popping candy while rubbing raw chillis on your eyeballs."
