Suzanna confirms ITV debut date
BBC Breakfast host and Strictly Come Dancing star Susanna Reid has confirmed that she will complete her defection to ITV next week to host its new weekday breakfast show Good Morning Britain.
Susanna will front the channel's flagship morning current affairs show from next Monday alongside former GMTV host Ben Shephard in a deal reportedly worth £1 million.
She said: "I have had a fabulous two decades at the BBC but ITV offered me a fantastic opportunity.
"It's not often in your career you get the opportunity to build something new that is really exciting and so engaging.
"I do like to challenge myself and do things that are different. It's good to push yourself.
"At the age of 43, I have got three children and I have been a journalist for more than 20 years - and so I do hope I know a few things about quite a lot of stuff!"
Susanna has presented BBC Breakfast since 2004.
ITV's head of daytime programmes Helen Warner said: "Engaging, news-driven content is our number one priority and will be at the heart of Good Morning Britain.
"I am delighted to welcome our four new presenters to the ITV Breakfast family and the exciting next chapter of our breakfast programming."
The announcement comes as former TV-am host Nick Owen warned that viewers are put off ITV's breakfast line-up because of how much their big-name presenters are said to be paid.
Good Morning Britain will replace Daybreak, whose launch presenters Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley were dropped, despite their bumper pay packets, a little over a year after the programme first went on air.
