Doctor Who rules Twittersphere
Matt Smith's final appearance as Doctor Who helped make the sci fi series' Christmas special the most talked about show on Twitter on Christmas Day.
The Time Of The Doctor generated three times as much Twitter traffic as last year's Christmas episode, The Snowmen, and beat the most watched programme of the day, Mrs Brown's Boys, social media TV analyst Kay Dekker revealed to the Radio Times.
A total of 183,550 tweets were sent during the show. The opening moments saw a peak of 4,853 tweets per minute, but the highest peak was following The Doctor's regeneration into Peter Capaldi - which sparked 7,829 tweets in the minute after the episode finished.
Doctor Who generated 40,000 more tweets than any other show, including Love Actually and EastEnders, topping social media analysts SecondSync's daily leaderboard.
On Christmas Day 2012 The Snowmen was the subject of 64,049 tweets, putting it second on last year's Christmas leaderboard, a long way behind EastEnders' total of 224,074 tweets.
This year Dr Who had 65,000 tweets more than the Christmas episode of EastEnders.
