Mirren flattered by Lawrence link
Dame Helen Mirren has said she is "honoured" by comparisons made between her younger self and Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence.
The Queen actress said she recognises a flicker of a similarity between the pair but maintains the younger superstar is far more attractive.
Speaking on the red carpet in Los Angeles, where the American Cinematheque presented its annual award to producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Dame Helen contemplated the comparison, which has been championed by The Daily Show host Jon Stewart.
"She is the most gorgeous young thing and a brilliant, brilliant actress," the veteran movie star said.
"I can see what he means although the photos he has been using are not the correct ones, but when I was about Jennifer's age I did look a little bit like her. I was never as gorgeous as she is but there was a small similarity and I am very honoured that he should make that association."
Dame Helen starred in National Treasure: Book Of Secrets, which was produced by Jerry, and the actress paid tribute to the powerful Hollywood player.
"He just brings incredible commitment, passion and most of all he's just supportive. He's not blustering and bullying, he's not noisy, he doesn't push his way through a project but he just quietly sits and listens and supports and he's always here with incredible courage because often these are huge budgeted movies and it must be so nerve wracking.
"I truly appreciate and admire him."
The Hollywood heavyweight has also produced the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, Top Gun, Bad Boys, Pearl Harbour, Enemy Of The State and Armageddon.
