Lyndhurst: I said no to diving show
Nicholas Lyndhurst has revealed he turned down the chance to host his own show about deep sea diving.
The New Tricks star is a keen diver and enjoys diving holidays with his wife and son. He is also a trained pilot and owns several planes. But he doesn't think people want to watch him present his own documentary.
Nicholas said: "It was mooted once, not by me. I'm of the generation, I remember [marine expert] Jacques Cousteau and he did it best, leave it to him.
"Just because I'm 'off the telly' doesn't make it any more interesting that I go diving. I want an expert to entertain me about all things like that. Again with the flying. Go and watch the History Channel if you want to watch that sort of thing.
"I don't think I'm very good at presenting myself to camera, I don't think."
The Only Fools And Horses star presented a BBC documentary, Born To Be Wild: Chimpanzee Challenge, in 2002, about 15 chimps being cared for in captivity before being released back into the rainforest.
He said: "I did it in Uganda for the chimps because I think the chimps needed publicising, but it's not a very comfortable thing for me."
