Ainsworth returns to TV in sitcom
Kacey Ainsworth is about to make her TV comeback in a new Ben Elton health and safety sitcom, The Wright Way.
Ex-EastEnder Kacey took a five-year break from the spotlight to bring up her children Blossom and Woody, but told TV Times she is pleased to get back into work.
She said: "I'm excited to be back on TV! For me, working as an actress didn't fit in with bringing up kids. I just wouldn't have seen them.
"I decided to do one theatre role a year because if you don't use it, you lose it in this job.
"They're both at school now so I'm able to get into it. As soon as I got back in a TV studio, I felt like I was home."
Kacey, 44, is known for her role as Little Mo in EastEnders and her harrowing domestic abuse storyline, and said she is enjoying acting a comic role instead, alongside David Haig in the series about a town council health and safety unit by Ben Elton.
She said: "It was amazing to be doing something more light-hearted - it was nice not to be crying my eyes out at seven o'clock in the morning!
"Obviously when you're returning, it's important to wait for the right part. I thought this is just wonderful.
"I've not done a huge amount [of comedy] and it's actually a very serious business, but it was fun! Ben makes you feel confident about making suggestions."
The Wright Way is on BBC One on Tuesdays at 10.35pm.
