Katy Perry and John Mayer found themselves at the centre of engagement rumours after the Teenage Dream singer was spotted flashing a new ring.
The loved-up couple - who have been dating for several months - were snapped leaving an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles on Valentine's Day, and Katy was wearing a ruby sparkler on her ring finger. It later emerged that John went shopping himself to pick out the one-of-a-kind heart-shaped ring for the star.
However, it seems the new piece of bling was just a romantic gift for Katy, rather than a sign John had popped the question, with a source telling People they are "not engaged".
John's gesture comes just days after he hinted that their romance was the real thing in an interview on CBS Sunday Morning.
"For the first time in my life I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship. I really don't. I'm not in a high profile... I know it's high profile... It's hard to explain," said the singer-songwriter.
"For me it feels like something that's very human," he added.
When asked if he ever plans to get married, he responded: "Of course. I mean, I'm still the kid from Connecticut. That's what you do."
