John Mayer says he feels like he is in a 'more human' relationship this time around
John Mayer has hinted that his romance with Katy Perry is the real thing, calling it a "very human" relationship.
The US singer-songwriter has been stepping out with Katy for several months - following failed romances with a string of stars including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson - and said it's the first time he has been in a relationship that doesn't really feel high profile, reported People.
He revealed during an interview on CBS Sunday Morning: "For the first time in my life I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship. I really don't. I'm not in a high profile... I know it's high profile... It's hard to explain."
"For me it feels like something that's very human," he added.
Last week it was revealed that John had confessed that he had been a bit of a "jerk" with the ladies in the past.
The star - who is known for putting his foot in his mouth and has previously made comments about some of his former flames, including referring to ex Jessica as "sexual napalm" in an interview - said in the interview with Sunday Morning: "I was just a jerk."
