Jeremy Vine will host this weekend's edition of The Andrew Marr Show as the broadcaster continues to "make progress" after his stroke.

The BBC said Jeremy, a former Newsnight presenter who now hosts a Radio 2 show, will stand in on Sunday following on from James Landale who presented the show last weekend.

A spokeswoman for the corporation said: "Andrew is continuing to make progress."

The 53-year-old journalist and television presenter, who is married to journalist Jackie Ashley and has three children, was taken ill last Tuesday.

Andrew is the corporation's former political editor.

He began his career as a newspaper reporter, becoming the editor of The Independent before turning to television.
