The average Briton has watched Dame Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins eight times at Christmas, a survey shows
Dame Julie Andrews has been crowned the queen of Christmas television in a new poll to find our festive favourites.
A survey found the average Brit has watched her in Mary Poppins eight times at Christmas - making it the most watched festive film.
The Disney classic, starring Dame Julie as the singing nanny, is a regular in the Christmas schedules and topped the poll to find the most watched shows over the holidays.
It was followed closely by another of her films, The Sound Of Music, Home Alone and The Wizard Of Oz - all of which have been seen around seven times.
The poll of 2,000 people, carried out on behalf of TV company Freeview, found viewers had watched The Snowman six times and The Great Escape around five times.
Strictly Come Dancing star Denise Van Outen, who is fronting the company's Christmas campaign, said: "It's no surprise to hear that we'll be tuning in to our family favourites once again - for me Christmas just wouldn't be the same without Mary Poppins. Having missed so much TV recently with rehearsals, I'll definitely be taking charge of the remote control this Christmas."
