Zawe Ashton likes to surprise people with how glamorous she can look off screen
Fresh Meat star Zawe Ashton is pleased her character is so scruffy, as people are always surprised by her real life appearance.
The actress - who scooped Best Newcomer at the Cosmopolitan Women of the Year Awards this week- stars as hilarious party animal and tomboy Vod in the hit Channel 4 comedy. Zawe insisted she doesn't mind Vod's punk style, because it means she doesn't feel pressured to make too much of an effort the rest of the time.
Zawe confessed: "I'm never happier than when I'm in just some jeans and something casual.
"But what's really nice is people going, 'Oh my god you scrub up well!'
"So I'd rather be a person who scrubs up well than be a Bond girl who has to just turn up and look stunning. Otherwise people would be like, 'She's not looking great', if she arrives looking anything less."
