Styles cringes at former outfits

One Direction's Harry Styles has revealed that he gets embarrassed by his teeny-bopper X Factor outfits.

The 18-year-old singer is a newly fledged star of the fashion pack after being the only band member who sat on the front row of the Burberry show at London Fashion Week.

"I like fashion. When I look back at the kind of stuff I wore on the X Factor, I laugh. There's no excuse," he told UK Vogue in its December issue.

Harry, who got suited and booted with his bandmates for the shoot with the fashion bible, admitted that he still can't come to terms with being a heartthrob.

"You're never going to get used to walking into a room and have people screaming at you," he said.

"There's a lot of things that come with the life you could get lost in. But you have to let it be what it is. I've learnt not to take everything too seriously," he added.

The group - which also includes Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - are preparing for the release of their second album, Take Me Home, which allowed them "to experiment with new sounds", Harry said.

"We want to gradually get more and more 'live' sounding. It's important to experiment with things - we want to move with the times, but keep true to ourselves," he explained.

Niall added: "We did a lot of writing in the studio. And I play the guitar, so I play on a lot of the tracks on the album."
