Brad Pitt has pledged to donate 100,000 dollars to help the campaign to legalise gay marriage throughtout the US.

The Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest gay rights group, has announced the Hollywood star agreed to match contributions from the group's members of up to 100,000 dollars, in support of its efforts to support same-sex marriage initiatives in several states.

In an email to members of the Human Rights Campaign, Brad wrote that it's "unbelievable" that people's relationships will be put to a vote on Election Day.

Same-sex marriage will be on the ballot in Maryland, Maine, Minnesota and Washington state.

The Human Rights Campaign, based in Washington DC said it has spent eight million dollars pushing for marriage equality for gays and lesbians over the past two years, including five million dollars in the four ballot measures this year.
