Lowly Galaxy Windows, still buoyant from their 4-2 triumph over the Railway Tavern two weeks ago, will be looking to put back-to-back wins together for the first time this term and ease their relegation worries when they meet the Chapelhay at the Grove tomorrow (10.30am).
Both these promoted sides will be looking to kick off the new year with a victory in what is likely to be a tense affair and Galaxy boss Kev Prince said: “If we can pick up another three points against a side who, like ourselves, are not having the best of times, it will put us right back in the mix.”
The hosts will look to field a full- strength side with top scorer Bobby Jones and last week’s two-goal hero Sanchez Baker leading the attack while also back in contention for a place is James Corbin who missed the upset of the Taverners due to work commitments.
Former Chapelhay defender Nick Brooks is also likely to fill in at centre-back in place of the suspended Matt Mercer and he said: “I think I’ve got the nod for Sunday and I’m really up for the game as it’s against my old club – I still know a lot of players, but more importantly it’s a game I think Galaxy can win.”
Ben Rowe’s impressive stint at right-back in the absence of Jim Hendon earned him the man of the match accolade last time out and Rowe is sure to feature again with Hendon also returning to the fold.
Prince also believes his players are still fully motivated for the remaining games of the season following club founder Andy Barber’s decision to concentrate the club’s attentions on Saturday football come next term.
Prince said: “Even though the players know it’s our last season in the league because the club is moving in a different direction I’ve certainly not seen any loss of enthusiasm – in fact it’s been quite the opposite as the lads seem more determined than ever to survive relegation.”
Meanwhile, FC WindowMan will be missing four suspended players for their clash with Dorothy’s at Budmouth, but will welcome back Wayne Day from injury and new signing Sam Greening looks set to start on the bench for the unbeaten table-toppers.
Weather permitting this will be the first league outing for WindowMan since the first Sunday in November, and they will be looking to extend their lead before some key players return from suspension and strengthen their already formidable squad.
Also at Budmouth, Tuatara will face the Belvedere for the first time since May’s Les Hallett Cup final defeat.
Boss Chris Meadows hopes to select from a full squad as the T-bar look to build on their impressive recent form which has seen them net 14 times in their last three games.
