Bumper weekend for Penguins


Winchester City Penguin Swimming Club had a bumper weekend when over 40 of their swimmers competed at the Peter Bull Open Meet at Waterlooville Leisure Centre.

Ross Hunter won the overall age group category (BAGCAT) for 11 year-old boys and took first places in 200m backstroke, 50m butterfly and 100m individual medley.

Vicky Payne also won the category for the top overall 13 year-old girl and had 200m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 100m individual medley wins. Runners-up in their age groups were Oliver Heath (13 year old boys), Maya Garside (11 year-old girls) – Maya also won the 200m backstroke event in her age group – and Georgie Elliott (14 year-old girls) who won the 200m backstroke and 50m backstroke.

Adam Crompton was third overall in the 12 year-old age group, winning 200m backstroke and 50m butterfly individual events. Tom Heath (14 year-old boys) was also third overall.
