Alresford snatch a point at the death

ROMSEY Town were stung by a last minute goal as Alresford Town salvaged a 2-2 draw at the By Pass Ground on Tuesday night.

Romsey twice took the lead through a Lee Wood header and a Gary Fulker penalty after Paddy James had been fouled.

But they were pegged back first by Stuart Findlay and then by a last-gasp effort from substitute Martin Rogers.

“It feels like a defeat,” admitted Romsey boss Glenn Burnett.

“The way the game was, we should have been five or six clear by half-time. We dominated from start to finish.”

However, Tim Cole, his Alresford counterpart, was delighted. “Romsey are flying at the moment, so it was a good result for us,” he smiled.

“We’ve been playing some decent football lately but we’ve not been getting the results.”

The disappointing draw came after Romsey suffered a rare defeat last weekend – a 2-0 loss at Totton and Eling thanks to goals from Steve Jenkin and sub Steve Eyles.

“Totton are very well organised with a good m a n a g e m e n t team and they were by far the better side in the second half,”

conceded Burnett.

“But I thought we were by far the better side in the first half, particularly as we were a little stretched without our keeper Mike Hookway (groin) and defenders Ross Gregory (thigh) and Darren Curtis (suspension).

“Paddy James hit the bar, Simon De’Ath had two oneon- ones and Ryan Long also had a couple of good chances.

“We could have put it away by half-time.”
