WINCHESTER City have been thrown out of this season’s Southampton FA Senior Cup after a Hampshire FA Board of Enquiry.
The long-running saga into the eligibility of City’s Jono Richardson in a second round tie against AFC Stoneham on October 7 has finally been resolved at the HFA’S Winklebury Offices.
A press release issued by the County FA said: “This release follows our press release issued on 16 January 2009 in respect of the Southampton Divisional FA Senior Cup, and in particular the investigation into Winchester City FC allegedly fielding an ineligible player in a SDFA Senior Cup fixture versus AFC Stoneham on 7 October 2008.
“Hampshire FA can confirm that the Board of Enquiry’s decision is as follows: Winchester City FC were found to be in breach of SDFA Cup Rule 3(a) by not complying with the player qualification requirements in respect of player Jono Richardson.
Winchester City FC are therefore removed from this season’s SDFA Senior Cup with their opponents in the Quarter Finals, Colden Common FC, advancing to the next round.
