HAMPSHIRE’S Liam Dawson reached the Pakistan Super League final with Peshawar Zalmi last night.

The all-rounder, fresh from his match-winning 62 against Rilee Rossouw’s Quetta Gladiators 24 hours earlier, made a run-a-ball 13 after being promoted to number three.

He came in after an opening stand of 107 between Kamran Akmal and Andre Fletcher from the first nine overs.

Dawson pulled his first pull, from Ravi Bopara for six, but only after the openers were dismissed in the tenth.

Bopara (3-0-35-3) and Tymal Mills (3-0-23-2) were both in the wickets for Karachi but it was left-arm seamer Usman Khan who had Dawson caught at mid-wicket in the 13th.

Peshawar closed their innings on 170-7 after rain reduced the match to 16 overs a side.

Having conceded 99 runs from his previous eight overs in the competition, Dawson did not bowl.

But a Peshawar attack including Chris Jordan and Hasan Ali did the job, restricting Karachi to 157-2 to clinch a 13-run victory in ‘Eliminator 2’.

Dawson had a hand in the dismissal of Babar Azam, comfortably catching the Pakistan international at mid-wicket of Hasan Ali, after the Karachi number three had made 63 from 44 balls.

Kent’s Joe Denly had hit ten from Hasan’s previous two deliveries but his unbeaten 79, from only 46 balls, was in vain

The champions will now play Islamabad United in Sunday’s final.
