Liam Dawson starred on his Pakistan Super League debut as Peshawar Zalmi cruised to a ten-wicket win in Sharjah.

The Hampshire slow left-armer took 3-20 as the Lahore Qalanders were bowled out for 100.

Dawson struck in successive balls in the first over after the powerplay, removing Pakistan limited-overs international Fakhar Zaman before trapping Denesh Ramdin lbw.

Lahore were 73-4 at halfway, when Dawson dismissed Sohail Akhtar.

Bangladesh star Tamim Iqbal and Pakistan’s Kamran Akmal then knocked off the runs for Peshawar in just 13.4 overs.

Dawson will be hoping to retain his place when Peshawar play their next game against the Multan Sultans tomorrow.

Should they win, Peshawar will go above Multan at the top of the table.

Rilee Rossouw finished on the losing side as Multan won their third match of the competition against the Quetta Gladiators on Satrurday.

The Hampshire batsman was stumped by Kumar Sangakkara for nine off Pakistan off-spinner Shoaib Malik, having made 18 and 37 in his first two matches.

Hampshire’s Kyle Abbott is also at the Pakistan Super League. He has joined the Lahore Qalanders as cover for left-armer Mustafiz ur Rehman, who is on international duty with Bangladesh.
