Lymington Sea Angling Club president Derek Smith won his club’s shallow boat fixture.

Included in his winning 10lb 10oz catch was a 6lb 6.5oz bass.

Other species to figure during the event included dogfish, pout, undulate rays, spotted rays, small-eyed-rays, blonde rays, bull huss, black bream, wrasse and plaice.

Others: 2nd Phil Morgan 14lb 4oz, 2nd Dennis Mapes 11lb 8oz, 4th Brian Ansell 11lb 5oz, 5th Barry Littlefair 9lb 8oz.

A wide range of species were recorded during the ninth round of the pegged open Samalite League fished at West Bexington.

They included plaice, sole, pout, dogfish, garfish, undulate rays and smoothhound. The heaviest landed in A zone was a 12lb 15oz undulate ray recorded by Terry Hartnell while Darren Cramer (Southampton) collected the pool for the heaviest fish in B zone with a 4lb 2oz smoothhound.

Results: A zone, 1st Terry Hartnell 19lb 1oz, 2nd Andy Ellard 18lb 4oz, 3rd Daniel Crump 9lb 11.5oz. B zone, 1st Ben Bradstock 8lb 2oz, 2nd Darren Cramer 5lb 10oz, 3rd Rob Marshall 5lb.

Over £400 was raised for the Julia’s House Children’s Hospice by anglers who entered the Swanage & District SAC charity open shore competition fished along the local town beach in very wet and windy conditions.

The pool for the longest round fish, worth £52, was won by Will Chellingworth with a 95cm undulate ray while the flatfish pool was shared between Graham Woods and John Toth who both recorded plaice measuring 23cm.

The junior section was won by Henry Cole, 12, with 16cm while Dylan Ballantyne was just 1cm further adrift.

Danny Hardwick topped the podium in the total length section after landing 14 fish measuring 361cm to collect the £134 top prize.

John Sloper (New Milton) won £100 as the runner up with 261cm.

Others: 3rd Will Chellingworth 223cm, 4th John Toth 178c, 5th Nicky Frewin 164cm. 56th Graham Sheppard 157cm.

SANDOWN & LAKE AC: Members struggled for a bite during the weekend match held on the local pier where Bob Wickham won with a solitary smoothhound weighing 1lb 5oz. Janet Rolle caught a 13oz pollack.

CHRISTCHURCH & DISTRICT FC: Dogfish, pout and bass supplied the action during a shore competition fished along the Milford Shingle Bank. Results: 1st Tony Amos 4lb 3oz, 2nd Robin Thorne 3lb 1oz, 3rd Steve Kent 1lb 8oz, 4th Jeff Summers 1lb 3.5oz.

WARREN BOAT AC: A junior catch & release match held along the deep water section at Magazine Lane produced a smattering of bass, pout and whiting.

Results: 1st Alex Griffiths 30pts, 2nd Levi Konerth 8pts, 3rd Jack Renault 6pts.
