Hampshire's Royal London One-Day Cup exit has been confirmed.

Heavy rain meant Hampshire's last group game against Sussex was officially abandoned at 4.50pm.

Hampshire were knocked out earlier today, when Surrey took a point from their no result against Gloucestershire to climb into the top three behind Essex and Somerset.

Essex go straight through to the semi-finals to play north group winners Worcestershire, while Somerset and Surrey will play off against Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire for a place in the last four.

James Vince's side lost its last two games against Glamorgan and Surrey, despite the captain's record 178 and George Bailey's unbeaten 145.

Those centuries helped set new partnership records for Hampshire's fourth and eighth wickets; Vince's 221 with Liam Dawson (74) and Bailey's 152 with Kyle Abbott (56).

Hampshire's 50-over season, promised much but the are now focused on the return to Specsavers County Championship action against Essex at Chelmsford on Friday.
