MARTIN Allen is confident Eastleigh can rectify their “very poor” home form over the next eight days.

It’s a shocking statistic for a club that started the season with National League title aspirations that they haven’t managed a win on Silverlake soil since beating Torquay United 3-0 on October 25.

The Spitfires now have three chances to put that right with tomorrow's rearranged game against Braintree Town (Tuesday, 7.45pm), followed by visits from Tranmere on Saturday and Macclesfield next Tuesday (February 21, 7.45pm).

Since taking over as manager at the start of December, Allen has overhauled the squad so dramatically that six of the starting 11 that faced Torquay are no longer with the club – fans’ favourite Michael Green becoming the latest to depart last week.

And with another two of that October line-up – Ryan Cresswell and Jason Taylor – on the long-term injury list, Allen's revamped squad is unrecognisable to the one Ronnie Moore left behind.

“We’ve not had a home win since October which is absolutely scary and quite ridiculous – and it’s got to change,” vowed the ex-Barnet boss. “It’s a very poor record and it’s one of the reasons I’ve had to try and change things and move people on.

“We’ve shown we can do it away from home, where we’ve been picking up points, and now we need to get our home form up to scratch.

“The last game here (a 1-0 defeat by Woking) was awful and I apologise for that.

"We owe the paying public a performance.

“Our one good home performance was the 1-1 draw with Forest Green when I thought we played with high energy and purpose.”

That energy was back in evidence at Guiseley on Saturday where Allen handed debuts to three young signings – left-back Chinua Cole from Staines and on-loan midfield duo Sam Matthews from AFC Bournemouth and Portsmouth’s Ben Close.

With a 1-0 victory seemingly in their grasp, they were pegged back by a stoppage-time leveller, but the boss was encouraged by what he saw – particularly first half.

“These young lads are getting the opportunity which is great for them and great for us,” he said. “We’re very, very close to being a very good team.

“We’ve got six games now in just over two weeks and we’ll work with this group of players and see what we can get out of them.

“Eastleigh fans are going to see a different team, a different outlook and a much more energised performance,” he promised.

Eastleigh are 13th while tomorrow's 18th-placed visitors Braintree moved four points clear of the drop zone courtesy of a crucial 1-0 win over basement boys North Ferriby on Saturday.

Manager Hakan Hayrettin said his team had responded to his "war cry" as Reece Hall-Johnson climbed off the bench to net the winner.
