Fawley kept in touch with the leading pack with a 35-15 home win over Locks Heath Pumas.

The visitors struck with the game’s first try but the home side bounced back to lead 22-10 at half-time.

Captain Dave Johnston cancelled out Pumas’ effort and James Jordan put Fawley ahead.

Scrum-half Mike Kitchen made an outstanding solo run to put Rob Thomas over the line and winger Ben Wild restored his side’s advantage after Pumas hit back with an unconverted try.

Locks Heath soaked up plenty of pressure after the interval and were rewarded with a clever break-away try.

Thomas’s long-range penalty settled Fawley who went over the whitewash twice more through Ryan Dack and Dave Johnston.

Southsea Nomads 25
Southampton 40

Southampton under-performed against Southsea Nomads’ heavyweights but still returned to Test Park with a bonus-point Snows Group Hampshire Two win.

Under-strength SRFC struggled early on against Nomads’ tight five.
The pack won almost every scrum, no matter who had the put-in, and scored a try after five minutes through their big, hard-running forwards.

Both Southampton props were injured, which limited them in the set piece throughout the match.

But while Nomads dominated the scrum, Southampton were in a league of their own on the few occasions the ball got out to the backs.

Josh Rihan scored a breakaway try from an interception and Tom Morton soon added a second as Saints turned around 15-10 up.

In the second half Tiago Dias scored a try for Southampton before being yellow carded.

Nomads came back with five points of their own but fitness showed as the visitors went over three more times - Kenny Baughan from inside his own half, captain Chris Glebocki and utility forward Chris Baker broke from 60 metres to score.
Nomads scored a late try to gain a bonus point.
