SNOWS Group Hampshire One leaders New Milton notched up an eight-try win over Romsey as they continued their automatic-promotion quest.

Visitors Romsey were quickest off the mark though, Guy Bates crossing the line to touch down in the opening minutes.

Brendan Treacey evened things up when he drove over and tries soon followed from Sam O’Regan, Sam Bew and Ben Russell before Treacey got his second. Adam Lavis was also having a good day with his boot and made four conversions as Milton turned around 33-5 ahead.

The New Forest side continued where they left off in the second half but were kept out by some dogged defending.

At the start of the fourth quarter Ben Gould ran through to touch down, Ramon Mallette followed shortly after and Ben Russell broke through to record his brace.

Romsey finished off how they started, running the ball into the Milton 22 before Jack Groves scored from a line-out.

Fordingbridge put their unexpected defeat at Farnborough behind them with a 51-22 home success over Isle of Wight.

The Islanders were on the scoreboard first but Bridge hit back with tries from Mark Hammond and Harry Hitchings before conceding again.

Bridge upped their game and led 41-15 at the break with two tries from Alex Tattersall and one each for Ross Bealey, Peter Scott and Dan Brown.

Fordingbridge struck again when Brown got a second early in the second half and they moved out of sight when Will Knight touched down.

IoW travelled home with a deserved bonus point when they grounded the ball for a fourth time.
