THE saga of Luke Coulson's transfer to Barnet is finally over.

After lengthy negotations, Eastleigh have this afternoon announced that the 22-year-old wideman - signed from Oxford City this time last year - has joined the League Two club.

The fee is undisclosed, but the Spitfires can confirm that it betters the club record sum they received from Bristol Rovers last week for right-back and club captain Joe Partington.

An EFC statement said: "Coulson has been with The Spitfires for less than a year but, again, Eastleigh FC do not want to stand in (the way of) a player's desire to play at a higher level, which Coulson has taken and also allows Eastleigh to net a record transfer fee surpassing the amount received only last weekend for Joe Partington.

"Eastleigh wish Luke well for his future and thank him for his time with us."

Coulson, whose sparkling form for the Spitfires earned him an England C call-up, tweeted: "Thank you to everyone at @EastleighFC, an amazing club that I was proud to be part of. Looking forward to my new challenge at @BarnetFC."
