EASTLEIGH midfielder Sam Togwell says the Spitfires are determined to bounce back from their FA Cup exit by reaching the National League play-offs.

The midfielder, signed three weeks ago from Barnet, is focused on tomorrow night’s game at home to Forest Green Rovers following the 5-1 defeat at Brentford.

Eastleigh have a ten-point gap to make up during the last 20 games if they are to make the top five.

Togwell believes it can be done.

He said: “I’ve been here three weeks now and we believe we’re good enough to make the play offs.

“I firmly believe that with a good run we’ll be up there as we’ve still got to play teams around us and Forest Green are above us.

“I wouldn’t have joined if I didn’t think this club is going in the right direction but we’ve got to continue the run that began with the Boreham Wood games.”

Togwell made his debut in the 4-3 defeat at Southport three weeks ago.

But after a 2-2 draw at home to Boreham Wood and the 1-0 win in the return game on Tuesday, Eastleigh have something to build on Tuesday night.

It is also a chance to put the FA Cup result behind them.

Togwell continued: “It was a tough first half but we created chances and looked dangerous from set pieces.

“It was a soft penalty to concede and we a had a great chance to make it 3-2 but those are the fine margins.

“We were more disciplined in the second half and kept our shape. We showed character and a lot of spirit to keep the score down. No-one went missing and the subs that came on and all made an impact.

“Brentford will be pushing for the play offs and showed us respect by putting out a strong team.”
