MANAGER Ronnie Moore has played down reports linking Eastleigh’s hot property Luke Coulson with interest from two SkyBet Championship clubs.

Word from the West Midlands suggests the highly-rated midfielder/wideman is on the radar of both Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

But Moore says there has been no concrete interest registered in the 22-year-old who recently hit the headlines with an impressive return of six goals in four National League games.

Asked about the rumours, Moore said: “It doesn’t help when you read things like that.

“No one’s come in and said here’s money on the table for Luke.

“Like I’ve said before, he could play at a higher level, it’s just a case of how high. If he continues as he is, it’s just a matter of time.

“But no one’s come in for Luke and the chairman has not stopped him going anywhere.”

Coulson arrived at Eastleigh for an undisclosed club record fee from Oxford City in January this year and penned a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The Spitfires beat off stiff competition to sign the youngster who had ten years in the youth system at Manchester City before moving on to Cardiff City where he spent two years and made one senior appearance in the FA Cup.

He joined Oxford City in January 2015 and blossomed into one of the most exciting young prospects in non-League.

Having missed the start of this season injured, Coulson opened his account at Macclesfield and sandwiched another away goal at Woking between home braces against Sutton and Maidstone.
