RONNIE Moore's first signing as Eastleigh boss has been quickly followed by a second.

The National League promotion hunters have turned to a 41-year-old to boost their strike force in the shape of prolific former Norwich, Bristol Rovers, Reading and QPR striker Jamie Cureton.

Cureton comes with great pedigree with over 700 Football League appearances on his CV and 250 League goals.

One of the oldest onfield players in the top four divisions of English football, he played for Dagenham & Redbridge for the last two seasons.

He dropped into non-League with north Hampshire outfit Farnborough last month but it was only ever going to be a stop-gap arrangement while he looked for a professional contract elsewhere.

Old habits die hard and serial scorer Cureton netted eight league goals for the Cherrywood Road outfit, placing him second in the Southern One Central goal charts.

On his move to the Silverlake, Cureton said: “I am delighted to be joining Eastleigh.

"It’s a club on the up with ambitions to get into the Football League and, with the squad and management team they have in place, it’s something I believe can happen this season.

"I’ll be looking to add to the group and hopefully we'll achieve what we all want, promotion come the end of the season.

"I would like to thank everyone at the club for making this move happen, I know it’s not been easy.”

Eastleigh boss Moore, who had been searching for a proven marksman, said: “Jamie is and has always has been a goalscorer.

"We are a striker down with Scott Wilson having an hamstring injury.

"Jamie will give us goals. I see him as being an impact player.

"He can be the difference between us winning game. His goals can take us where we want to be come the end of the season.”

Cureton goes straight into the squad to face Sutton United at the Silverlake Stadium on Saturday.
