England have released Jake Ball to play against Hampshire for Nottinghamshire in the Specsavers County Championship match at The Ageas Bowl on Sunday.
But if the seamer is retained in the squad for next week's second Test in Durham, he will lave the Ageas Bowl after day two to join England practice at Chester-le-Street.
Ball, 25, helped earn his place in the England squad with 19 wickets at 21.15 apiece in Notts' first four matches.
Hampshire have Sean Ervine back from a finger injury to replace England's James Vince, whose absence is likely to see Liam Dawson move up the order to No3.
Hampshire (from): Carberry, Adams, Dawson, Smith, Ervine, Wheater, McLaren, Andrew, Best, Crane, Tomlinson, Wheal, Alsop.
