EASTLEIGH have been drawn away to League One basement boys Crewe Alexandra in the first round proper of the FA Cup.

Chris Todd’s men will head for Gresty Road the weekend after next to face an Alex side who have won just two of their 15 league games this season and have a goal difference of -11.

Given Crewe’s current struggles, Eastleigh will fancy their chances after three big wins and a draw on the road since Todd took over as manager.

The Spitfires have recently beaten Wrexham and Tranmere Rovers on their travels and taken a point at Cheltenham.

And last Saturday they underlined their away-day strength with a 2-1 win at Bromley in the fourth qualifying round.

Todd himself had fancied a tie against south coast neighbours Portsmouth but, instead, it’s their National League rivals Macclesfield Town who will be visiting Fratton Park.

Havant & Waterlooville will travel to Hartlepool if they get through tomorrow night’s tricky replay at Cheltenham, while Aldershot Town have landed one of the ties of the round at home to last season’s Cup sensations Bradford City.

Basingstoke Town - still without a win in the National League South - travel to Cambridge United.
