Eastleigh's Vanarama Conference rivals Torquay United have seen ex-Saints boss Paul Sturrock depart after less than 96 hours at his new job.

Sturrock was in charge at Saints for just 13 games, but has surpassed himself by leaving his post at the Devon club that he was appointed to on Sunday.

He was due to help out Plainmoor boss Chris Hargreaves plan for next seasons and was there for their 2-0 defeat at Aldershot on Monday.

But this morning Torquay revealed that the Scot, who was at St Mary's for less than six months after replacing Gordon Strachan, had left his new post after being offered a job elsewhere.

"I am very disappointed but we wish Paul the very best of luck in his new job," said Torquay's vice-chairman Bill Phillips.

Sturrock’s short tenure does not represent the fastest ever exit at Plainmoor.

Leroy Rosenior lasted just ten minutes as manager in 2007.

Torquay are currently in 17th in the Conference and have beaten the Spitfires twice this term
