Trojans Ladies twice took early leads before Australian Kewley McCaskill scored a third on the hour-mark to secure a 3-3 draw against Investec Women’s Western Conference rivals Bristol Firebrands.

Laura Aukolls gave Trojans the perfect start with a goal after only two minutes, but Linda Webb equalised for Firebrands in virtually the next play.

Jenny Peebles restored Trojans’ lead from a penalty corner, but Stoneham-raised Lizzie Gittens – whose elder brother Chris is the Trojans coach – converted another set piece to put Bristol back on level terms for a second time.

Firebrands grabbed the lead for the first time 20 minutes into the second period through Amela Andrews, but Trojans weren’t to be denied as Aussie Coast City starlet McCaskill ensured the visitors a deserved share of the spoils.

It was Trojans’ fourth draw – the EHL having decided that the 1-1 scoreline from last week’s weather abandoned match at Olton & West Warwicks will stand as the result.

Trojans remain third ahead of Saturday’s High Noon home match with Cheltenham.
