Richard Bland has missed out on a place in the DP World Tour Championship, but can still reflect on his biggest ever European Tour season.

The Stoneham ace finished the year in 67th position in the order of merit, with earnings of €517,385, after bringing the curtain down on his campaign with a share of 39th place in the Turkish Airlines Open.

It is the first time in the 41-year-old’s career that he has topped the half-a-million Euro mark in a single season.

Bland had hoped to make it into the final event of the year – the DP World Tour Championship, in Dubai – but came up just short of the required top-60 finish in the money list.

Although he will be disappointed to have missed out on that showpiece tournament, the Southampton star can celebrate an excellent season.

Bland earned three top-five finishes during the campaign, and also reached the Tour’s Final Series for the first time.

That saw him gain a coveted place in the BMW Masters, where he also shared 39th, as well as the Turkish Airlines Open.

His performance in those events saw him boost his season earnings by more than €120,000.
