A 16-year-old girl from Southampton is about to take her stock car racing career to the next level.

Georgie Biggs from Bursledon has won more than 81 trophies since she started racing four years ago, and she isn’t about to stop there.

The youngster, who is studying motor mechanics at Southampton City College, most recently won the Junior Bangers at Ringwood Cheetahs Raceway in the elite red top division.

On top of that recent success, Biggs, who is known as the ‘Angry Bird’ (inspired by the popular computer game) on the track for her aggressive style, has secured third place in the highly competitive adult race series at Matchams, near Ringwood. Biggs drives a 1.4 litre Honda Civic on the dirt at Cheetahs and a Vauxhall Nova on the tarmac at Matchams, each of them having an Angry Birds character emblazoned on the side.

Next year she will be taking another stride forward by joining the senior ranks at Cheetahs.

On top of that she is making modifications to the Nova she races at Matchams to make it more competitive against opponents with bigger engines.

Biggs, who is the only female in her class at college, is doing all of that despite still being one year away from being able to take a driving test.

“I love it,” she says. “The buzz you get at the start line is like nothing else.

“When I was young, I went to watch races and my dad was really into it.

“That inspired me and I love it, hopefully someone will offer me the chance to go big in the sport.”

Her exploits have meant that, at such a fledgling age, she has already driven more cars than people own in a life time.

The seven vehicles have all been kitted out by her father, Robbie, who owns scrap metal company RB Metals.

So far she has raced in three different Ford Fiestas, two Hondas, a Nissan Micra and a Nova. She’ll soon add to that list, with preparations being made to a new car for next year’s races “I’ve always been into stock cars,” said Robbie. “And we made that into a family activity. It’s a real family thing. Georgie came up to me and said ‘I want to give it a go’ and so I built her a car. Her sister Kelly has also done it. I used to do it many years ago, but concentrate on helping Georgie.”
