JAMES Knight won the Solent Half Marathon race on the Waterside.

The Overton Harrier clocked 72 minutes and 40 seconds to win the third round of the Hampshire Road Race League at Gang Warily Leisure Centre, near Fawley.

A field of about 400 runners enjoyed the late autumn sunshine in a race that took them past Exbury Gardens and Lepe Foreshore with stunning views across the New Forest and surrounding countryside.

First lady home was Ellie Monks (Southampton AC) in a time of 84 minutes and 27 seconds.

Stubbington Green’s Daniel O’Boyle was second man to finish, 15 seconds adrift of Knight, to maintain his impressive start to the league.

O’Boyle was second in the season opening event, the Overton 5, where Knight was third.

O’Boyle was third in the season’s second race, the Victory 5 in Portsmouth.

The fourth event of the 2014/15 season is the ever popular Lordshill 10 mile event on November 2.
