Eastleigh manager Richard Hill “was seething underneath” after defeat to Wrexham at the weekend.

But he is remaining level headed as his side face the second of three ultra-tough games in a week against Bristol Rovers tonight in a Vanarama Conference showdown at the Silverlake Stadium.

It is expected to be a big evening on Stoneham Lane as the Spitfires take on The Gas in front of a record-breaking home crowd.

The match against Rovers, who have rattled off five straight league wins, is sandwiched between two tough away trips.

The trip to Wrexham ended in a 3-0 defeat at the Racecourse Ground and, this Saturday, Hill’s men travel to north London to take on table toppers Barnet.

After the loss in Wales to an impressive Dragons outfit, Hill was outwardly calm and collected.

But the boss, who has just celebrated two years in charge, was fuming beneath the surface, but saw no point in “ripping paint off the walls” with two big games left this week.

“I’m seething underneath, I’m bubbling underneath,” he said. “What do I do, we’ve got a massive game on Tuesday?

“I’ve got to stay level-headed, I’ve got prepare them for a game of football.

“What do I do, go and rip paint off the walls? It would be easy to do that, but I need to get them ready for another match.

“It would be easy for me to be moody, miserable and down.

“I am down, but I’ve got to prepare the players for another massive game. Bristol Rovers, for goodness sake.

“This week was always going to be tough and it’s not the start of the week you wanted it to be.”

Dean Beckwith is expected to remain out with a groin injury, while new defensive signing Jamie Turley may still be shaking off a bout of illness that kept him out of the Wrexham match.

Yemi Odubade, who was sidelined due to a hamstring problem in Wales, could return while striker Ben Wright remains a long term absentee with a knee problem.

Young keeper Lewis Noice remains sidelined with a fractured ankle.
