Richard Bland might have already secured his place on the European Tour for next season, but he has no intention of relaxing.

The Stoneham pro still has his sights set on making it into some of the Final Series events at the conclusion of the campaign, and retains hope he might still be able to play his way into the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

Bland’s top-20 finish in last week’s KLM Open took his season earnings to €270,000 and pushed him up to 83rd in the order of merit.

That should be more than enough to secure his Tour card for 2015, but Bland hopes a strong couple of weeks – beginning at the Wales Open today – could lead to greater prizes.

“It’s nice that’s been put to bed, but I also want to push on and make these end events,” said the 41-year-old.

“It would be great to make China [the BMW Masters] and Turkey [the Turkish Airlines Open], and, if I did well enough in those, to edge into the Race to Dubai, which would be fantastic.

“So I’m not going to sit back and relax.

“Yes, the pressure’s off, knowing you’ve got a job for next year, but I want to push even harder and try to make those end events.”

If Bland can secure a top 60 place in the order of merit come the end of the Turkish Airlines Open in mid-November, then he would earn a spot in the prestigious Tour World Championship, in Dubai.
